Leontina tells José Luis that she found a letter in which Leonor confirms that she wanted to help Violeta escape. José Luis becomes so enraged that he assaults his wife and Manuel discovers the beating and takes revenge against his brother. Violeta tells her fiancé that their relationship ends there, because she does not want to hurt him or anyone in his family. After leaving his brother badly injured, Manuel suggests that the workers go with him and the only one who follows him is Luis Emilio, betraying his father. Both fugitives decide to escape and Herminia, whom they meet on the road, takes them to a small house where they can hide for a few days.
