Conan, Ran, and Kogoro come across an Italian restaurant on fire. A nearby man rushes inside the building. In an attempt to stop him, Kogoro follows him inside, where he discovers a body. The police investigation identifies the victim as Head Chef Marcello. The man who rushed into the building was Akiyama the waiter.
