D'Artagnan, the Sun King's musketeer (17x4)

To mark the 350th anniversary of his death, this program portrays the French man-of-war Charles de Batz de Castelmore, known as d'Artagnan, who was commissioned by King Louis XIV to arrest Nicolas Fouquet, Superintendent of Finances. It explains his role within the court and how he became the most trusted man of Cardinal Mazarin, and later of Louis XIV. Finally, it explains how Alexandre Dumas drew on his memoirs to imagine the character of d'Artagnan, the hero of his famous novel The Three Musketeers.
