Thomas Bareski is called near Noirmoutier by Judge Claire Elgouarch in connection with an unsolved case: the disappearance of 7-year-old Marion in 1991. The daughter of the gendarme in charge of the investigation at the time, the judge entrusts Bareski with the latest twist: a letter of remorse from the murderer, old and ill, addressed to the family.
