Mailer's biography complements a collection of photographs of Marilyn Monroe , who was in her time the most sought-after photographic subject in the world. Marilyn Monroe died on 5 August 1962, aged 33. Despite her extraordinary world-wide appeal, her personality remains enigmatic.
