Supt Heaton suspects an acquaintance of the deceased, a dangerous psychopath with a history of extortion, and warns his estranged wife to leave London. PCs Hinckley and Fletcher deal with a violent assault case. PCs Hollis and Stamp have to find the key witness when he flees court.
