In Part 1 of this three-part miniseries about a fashion publisher who gains fame in Paris, Helene Junot (Joan Collins) struggles to maintain her billion-dollar empire with the premiere of a new publication in New York.

Helene (Joan Collins) is reunited with her brother Edmund (Timothy Dalton) and settles into married life with American composer Eric Hovland (Gene Kelly), while striving to bring former Gestapo officer Von Eiderfeld (Steven Berkoff) to justice for his war crimes.

Helene (Joan Collins) rekindles a love affair and, faced with a conspiracy to drive down the price of her stock, assembles allies to save her publishing empire.
