KLUMP (2018)

Petzi (Rasmus Klump), Pingo and pelikan Pelle are best friends. One day, they find shipwrecked Old Salt on the beach. The guys decide to help him build a new ship. But when Pingo and Pelle realize that Petzi wants set sails and join Old Salt they’re shaken. They don’t want to lose their friend. Full speed ahead, the good ship Mary ends up on top of a whale. Wallerie refuses to dive and let the crew go. “I’m an island”, the whale insists. Petzi, Pingo, Pelle and Old Salt need to find out what happened to the young whale. Can the answer be found below the surface of the ocean. The crew meets Osram, an elephant in a bathtub. Osram is laid back, funny, but terribly forgetful. He can’t remember a single thing. Not even that Pelle is a bird. Kangaroo Peter has been tinkering with his car for years. Without much success. Petzi cannot believe it and promises Peter his maiden trip by the end the day. The crew immediately gets going. Pingo and Pelle want to give a surprise party for Petzi. They trick their friend into thinking it’s still pitch black and in the middle of the night. Petzi should sleep soundly on the good ship Mary as long as they need for their preparation on a party island. At some point, however, Petzi can not sleep any longer, and misunderstandings unfold. On a small island hatching turtles have to be protected from hungry seagulls. Pingo does everything to bring the little turtle babies safely to the sea. The friends visit Emil at the north pole. He is in charge of greasing the axis of the earth. But when Emil and Old Salt get caught up in an arm wrestling fight the axis begins to crunch. Actually, Petzi, Pelle and Pingo just wanted to find the treasure of uncle Bruno. But then they meet Tim, a beaver. Tim wants to build his first dam and needs some help. Alone, he seems unable to put anything respectable into the river. The friends have to decide whether they care more about the treasure or Tim’s longing. Petzi and his friends want to climb a mountain. However, they lack experience and equipment. How nice that they meet mountaineer Greta, who wants to stand by their side. The friends make fun of Petzi, who has spilled pancake dough in the galley. Petzi promises to clean up. But in fixing things he creates an even bigger mess. Petzi insists not being a mucky pup and goes to Addi. Addi runs his own laundrette and might be exactly the kind of help Petzi needs so desperately. Pingo’s voice is hoarse. He can only communicate with his friends using gestures. But when pancakes get stolen from the good ship Mary gestures are not enough. Evidence shows that Pingo himself has eaten all the pancakes without sharing. Can Pingo find the real thief and prove his innocence? Young crocodile Paffhanna lives together with her mother in the middle of the desert. It’s just the two of them. Paffhana’s mother has built her daughter a lokomotive to provide at least some sort of entertainment. When Petzi and his friends swing by, driving in circles isn’t enough for Paffhanna anymore. Petzi is eager to travel to the southern half of the world. The equator must be crossed; a rope, which is guarded day and night by King Neptune. Petzi, Pingo and Pelle attempt to sneak through. The Mary‘s crew turn their hands to repairing Paul‘s submarine, so that he can go to a rare performance of the underwater fish ballet. A camping trip goes awry when Pingo is attacked with green paint by a scary stranger in the forest. Rasmus vows to get to the bottom of this baffling behaviour by catching the culprits. The Mary docks at Paul‘s island once again, to repair the damaged submarine. When Pingo befriends Lambkin, one of the neighbourhood girls, Rasmus is at a loss. Soon all three are caught up in a competition for Pingo‘s friendship, with him in the uncomfortable role of referee, but feeling like the biggest loser of them all. The gang visit a former shipmate of Old Salt in the King‘s castle where he lives with his very stern daughter, the princess. While the old friends revisit their youth, spending the night on the Mary, Rasmus and the boys run wild in the castle, determined to lighten the Princess‘s spirits. Aboard the Mary, preparations are underway for the New Year‘s Eve festivities, when Rasmus shows signs of being ill. The doctor is summoned and announces that he needs sleep to recover, and won‘t be able to join the party after all. But his friends can‘t let him miss out on the fun entirely, and use their ingenuity to send him off to sleep in a truly memorable way.
