Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!

Kazuma and Aqua take on their first quest: to kill five giant frogs in three days. However, Aqua is too stubborn to help Kazuma, until she gets slowly eaten by a frog, allowing Kazuma the time to kill it. After barely managing to kill two of the frogs needed, Aqua puts out a request for party members. Most of the guild mocks her flier, but a strange Archmage named Megumin of the Crimson Demons race offers to help them with her Explosion spell. The next day, as Aqua is being eaten by another giant frog, Megumin fires off her Explosion spell and eliminates a frog nearby. Unfortunately, she knocks herself out from the strain, telling Kazuma she can only use the spell once a day before another frog appears and starts eating her. Kazuma manages to kill the remaining two frogs before they finish consuming his comrades. As they head back to the guild, Megumin begs to stay with Kazuma, threatening to ruin his reputation while being covered in frog slime. Kazuma reluctantly accepts, but after collecting his reward, considers abandoning both Megumin and Aqua. However, a third girl approaches him at the guild hall, introduces herself as "Darkness," and begs to join him.

While talking with Darkness, Kazuma gets unnerved by her body language and slips away. The next day, Kazuma tries to use his new found skill points to gain more useful skills. With only a handful of points to spend, he accepts the offer of Darkness's friend Chris to learn thief skills. Upon learning the "Steal" skill from her, Kazuma ends up stealing Chris's panties, then ransoms them back to her, which earns him the scorn of the female adventurers in the guild hall. Suddenly, a siren echoes throughout the town as all adventurers rush to the front gates to find themselves in a "Compulsory Quest" to defeat and capture a swarm of floating, sentient cabbage heads. Darkness displays her talent, enduring the blows of every cabbage head slamming into her to protect a fallen comrade, though Kazuma sees her doing it for the wrong reasons. Then Megumin calls down an Explosion on her head, scorching her and lots of cabbage in the area. After collecting their bounty and eating a tasty cabbage stir-fry, Kazuma reluctantly lets Darkness join the party.
