Kogoro receives a request, and he travels to Kanazawa with Conan and Ran on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. However, Kogoro tries to meet the client alone. Conan plants a wiretap on Kogoro and decides to find out his movements while sightseeing in Kanazawa with Ran. The client is a beautiful woman, Arihara Yumeno, who serves as Kanazawa's public relations ambassador. She has received a threatening letter from an unknown sender that alludes to an unsolved theft case from three years ago, and has asked Kogoro to find out who the sender was and the truth behind the past incident. At the same time, Conan, who is listening to the wiretap, suddenly has a gun pointed at his head.
