The young gnomes must have their amulet, which symbolizes the transition from child to adult. Tinka and her mother, Nille, are at the ceremony, but when it's Tinka's turn to receive the amulet, it doesn't change color like the others. King Gobbe's son Phileas sees it and wonders. Nille realizes that it is time to tell Tinka the truth about her background. In the human world, Lasse, his father and little sister have moved to the countryside to live with their grandmother. Lasse's father, Mikkel, sees it as a good opportunity to get Lasse away from some bad acquaintances. And a good opportunity to be together more as a family. But all Lasse thinks about is getting back to his friends in town.
