The Lumineers + PHOX (2013x3)
:
Hailing from Baraboo, WI, the six best friends who make up PHOX happen to be blessed with madness, illusions of grandeur, and the inability to do the same thing twice. Fueled by lead singer Monica Martin’s rich voice, the band’s sound reflects their nature as an ensemble: pulling in different directions, emulating varying emotions, but coming together for one refined result. It’s music that manages to hit both ends of the spectrum skillfully: quirky yet graceful, poppy yet expertly- crafted, catchy yet grand and elaborate, and overall just plain contagious. Enjoy this live set from iTunes Festival London, recorded last fall on September 3rd, 2013.

Although firmly established as a band before Mumford & Sons came onto the scene, it’s still hard not to draw comparisons and, although simplicity is part of The Lumineers’ charm, sadly some of their songs fall short of their performance.
