Through local connections, Barry pulls more than 800 investors into a $40 million scheme offering "guaranteed returns" on investments. (2) In Chicago, Kevin Carney claims to have invented a new stock trading computer program that can produce high returns. In truth, it's a Ponzi scheme that nets $19 million.
