As rescuers tend to Isabella, Fausta, overcome with grief and resentment, makes a heartbreaking plea: if she hadn't come into their lives, she wouldn't be about to lose her daughter. Heartbroken and her own hopes cast aside, Fausta accepts that with each passing minute, any hope that Fedra survived the fall fades. Gaspar confronts Fausta with a heavy heart: he rebukes her for her coldness toward Fedra, which triggered her mental illness and ultimately caused the accident. Rescuers arrive at the De la Vega family with the devastating news that the estimated survival time after the fall has reached its limit. With their hearts racing, they are informed that Fedra must be officially declared dead.
