Bomberne over Bornholm
Episode 2 (1x2)
:
In May 1945, the Danes can finally celebrate their liberation from the German occupation. But on Bornholm, the situation is completely different from the rest of the country. Here, it is the Soviet Union, and not the British, who come to kick out the Germans. The Russians bomb Rønne and Nexø to pieces, leaving the cities in ruins. The soldiers land as liberators, and a new era begins for both Pelle Peter Jencel's granduncle Henning Hansen and the rest of the Bornholmers. Many feared that the Russians would never leave and that the island would remain Soviet forever. Pelle Peter Jencel is a Bornholmer and grew up with many stories about the Russian era on Bornholm. Now, he investigates what actually happened back then, in a chapter of Danish history that few outside of Bornholm know about. A drama-documentary miniseries about Bornholm's forgotten history.
