On August 1, 1936, Adolf Hitler celebrated the opening of the Berlin Olympic Games in a packed stadium. For two weeks, countries from around the world gathered in the heart of the Third Reich for the sporting event. But while the Nazis intended to turn the Olympics into a gigantic propaganda operation to prove the supposed superiority of the Aryan race, one man would thwart their plans and racist theories: a 22-year-old Black American athlete: Jesse Owens.
