Single mother and nursery school teacher Miyuki meets Sri Lankan Kumara while doing volunteer work after the 2011 disaster, and they reunite by chance a year later. Kumara has been working at a car repair factory in a nearby town. Miyuki initially hesitates at Kumara's eager attempts to court her, but the two slowly grow close, and build a family-like relationship with Miyuki's daughter Maya. When Maya enters middle school, Kumara finally proposes to Miyuki.
