Lotte has a chance encounter with Nina and discovers that they are both researching Schuwald and strike up a friendship. Later, Lotte realizes that Nina looks like Johan. Tenma prepares to kill Johan at a forest sanctuary, but is unable to carry it through after meeting an old soldier who does not want blood shed in the forest.
