Following the work of buyers in Liverpool transforming derelict houses bought for just £1, as they gamble their savings to try and step onto the property ladder. The first episode follows childhood sweethearts Mel and Rob, who are desperate to give their children a home through sheer hard graft and a tiny budget, but a local shooting makes them question their decision. Elsewhere, the programme follows the work of Rachael and Sam, who transform a derelict wreck into a stunning three bed home, and post-graduate Victoria, who remains endlessly optimistic in the face of adversity.
