VICE News examines a new satellite launched by NOAA in November, GOES-16. Russia and Belarus have have just wrapped large-scale joint military exercises known as Zapad which made NATO allies nervous. Conventional western wisdom says that Russia is promoting the rise of far right populists across Europe with money, fake news and cyber attacks to undermine the liberal consensus. The idea being that a weakened EU would be less likely to challenge it with things like sanctions. In Germany, that movement is the AfD. But how far can the AfD’s rise be credited to Moscow?
