The speeches opened with a montage of Vice President Biden. The program included the presentation of journalism awards and scholarships to journalism students. Ed Henry spoke about the activities of the association. Kevin Spacey starred in a video, House of Nerds, in which many journalists and politicians participated in a spoof of Washington politics.
