Docu-drama series using first-hand interviews and dramatised segments to reveal the dangers faced by British special forces as they try to protect the West from the ever-changing threat of terrorism. This first episode focuses on the Iranian Embassy siege in London in 1980, a six-day hostage crisis that culminated in an SAS assault on the building, and shown live on TV.

On October 13, 1977, terrorists representing the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine hijacked a commercial Lufthansa flight. This documentary programme details how in intricately laid plan involving the use of concussion grenades allowed SAS troops to neutralise the militants without presenting risk to the many civilian hostages being held on board.

On July 18, 1972, a group of nine SAS soldiers fought a long and arduous battle against a 300-strong army of communist insurgents, determined to seize control of oil fields near the Omani town of Mirbat. This documentary uses first-hand interviews and dramatic reconstructions to tell the story of the group's victory, hailed by many as the SAS's finest hour.

The docudrama series concludes with an examination of August 2000's Operation Barras, in which an assault team made up of British paratroopers working alongside the SAS was deployed to rescue members of the Royal Irish Regiment taken hostage by the West Side Boys, a group of militant rebels based deep within the jungles of Sierra Leone.
