José Luis finds out that Manuel is gathering people for something. For this reason, accompanied by a group of men and Buenaventura, they intercept Manuel's group, call him a traitor and then shoot him in the right shoulder, leaving him seriously wounded in his home. Likewise, Teresita continues with her delusions and in love with Manuel, being willing to do anything, since she confronts her father, almost reveals to José Luis the romance between Manuel and Leonor and tells the whole truth to Lucrecia. José Luis's attack on Manuel will have repercussions, since María and Herminia tend to his wounds, instance in which Manuel reveals to them why he was gathering men: he found gold.
