Beauties of the Emperor

Miao Ge is orphaned as a child during a war, but luckily for her, Le Er convinces her family to adopt her. Le Er grows up to be a headstrong woman who questions traditional male and female roles in her society.

Le Er decides she wants to marry for love and avoid an arranged marriage, which gets her into trouble with her father. She escapes her home and poses as a boy to go explore the world and search for her dream man.

Le Er gets wrongfully chosen as a human sacrifice to the dead emperor. As she waits for "her" hero to come save her, and unexpected hero comes along instead.

Hai Tian sets the human sacrifices free, but his family is murdered as a result. He rows to seek revenge. The revolt against the tyrannical emperor continues to gain strength.

Le Er and Miao Ge make a promise to never let a man get between them, but fate happens to lead them directly to the man who will test their dedication to the promise.

Miao Ge decides to not let anyone, including Le Er, get in the what of what or who she wants.

Auntie Yu Nu torments Miao Ge in an attempt to maintain a sense of power within the Lu family, but her plans are foiled when Miao Ge gain the upper hand.

Le Er's father discovers her attraction to Yun Kuang and wants to send him on his way as soon as possible. Miao Ge is caught in a lie and runs away from the Lu Residence.

Zhang Ji and his army find out Yun Kuang and his uncle are hiding at the Lu Residence. Le Er's mother, Xue Ru, makes a shocking sacrifice for her husband and daughter. Miao Ge finds a helpful man during her time away from the Lu Residence.

Miao Ge returns to the Lu Residence with a new friend, Luo Feng, but he has more than friendship in mind. After a run-in with the Emperor, Le Er is summoned to keep him company at the palace, but Miao Ge offers to go in her place.

Le Er leaves the Lu Residence to search for Yun Kuang. During her travels, she runs into Hai Tian. Little does she realize it's more than just coincidence.

Yun Kuang loses someone very important to him during a battle, but gains something far bigger. As the Emperor worries someone has it out for him, it is revealed that Luo Feng has some shocking familial ties.

The Emperor becomes increasingly more paranoid about someone being out to kill him. Yun Kuang becomes the emperor of Xue State.

Luo Feng continues to make sacrifices for Miao Ge when she is chosen to get married off to the Huns to form an alliance. Le Er and Hai Tian's father get captured by Zhang Ji's army while traveling to the Lu Residence.

As it turns out, the Emperor's suspicions were not unfounded. A shift in power occurs, and Miao Ge finally gets the easy life she has been after. Hai Tian's army grows in size and power, which brings Le Er a little closer to Yun Kuang.

After a long year away from home, Miao Ge and Le Er reunite at the Lu Residence, but a lot has changed between the two girls. Miao Ge has finally devised a way to keep Le Er away from Yun Kuang just in time for his return to the Lu Residence.

Le Er runs into Xi Bing, a girl she was supposed to be buried alive with for the deceased emperor. Le Er, disguised as a boy, gets selected to fight for Xi Bing's honor which helps her find some new friends.

Hsiao Hui, finds himself in trouble due to his feelings for Qing Guo. Meanwhile, trouble also crosses Le Er and Xi Bing's path during their search for Yun Kuang, and Le Er realizes he is not as favored by the people as she once thought.

Le Er and Miao Ge find themselves on opposite sides of the battle between the people and the Emperor. As Luo Feng falls from power, Yun Kuang and Hai Tian begin their own power struggle.

Yun Kuang discovers Le Er's relationship to Hai Tian, causing an even bigger divide between the two.

Hai Tian believes Yun Kuang has ill feelings towards him due to his conquoring the capital first, however, he finds out otherwise when he is invited to the palace by Yun Kuang.

Hai Tian is invited to the palace for a banquet as a reward for his help during the wars, but the Warlord and his advisors have something else up their sleeves.

Le Er finally gets to see Yun Kuang after years of being apart from one another. Miao Ge worries Le Er will try to get him back but Le Er, Miao Ge, and Yun Kuang come to an agreement which leaves some happier than others.

Xi Bing reveals her feelings for Hai Tian and tries to turn him against Le Er. With the Huns attacking their boarders, Yun Kuang is not making the best decisions as emperor. Le Er, Hai Tian, and his army arrive at Central Shu, a poor wasteland.

Xiao Hui resigns as commander for Yun Kuang's army, vowing to find a place where his skills will be put to good use. He reunites with a lost love on his journey to find Hai Tian, but runs into many obstacles along the way.

Hai Tian begins to question his faith in Le Er. Xiao Hui leaves Yun Kuang's army and joins Hai Tian's, but finds it hard to prove himself worthy of their trust.

Miao Ge believes she keeps seeing Luo Feng not only in her dreams, but walking among the living. She runs into Yun Jiang during a festival, which seems to be a bit more than coincidence, and we find out what really happened to Luo Feng.

Hai Tian's new concubine is thoroughly unhappy with her position. In order to get between Le Er and Hai Tian, she convinces his father Le Er's son is really Yun Kuang's child.

Le Er leaves the palace to search for her son, but happens to find herself back in Yun Kuang's life along the way. Hai Tian misinterprets this chance encounter and believes Yun Kuang has captured Le Er, so he prepares to attack.

Just as Miao Ge and Le Er make amends, the prospect of another war threatens to tear the two sisters apart again.

Hait Tian's army attacks Yun Kuang's. Miao Ge, at her wit's end, commits an unthinkable act, and only then does Yun Kuang understand her love for him. As three years flies by, the time to pick the crown prince looms upon the emperor.

Three years after she leaves the palace, Le Er returns to help restore peace.
