1916: The Irish Rebellion

1916 is a landmark documentary giving a comprehensive overview of the Easter Rising, looking at the enormous impact it had both here and around the world and the crucial role played by Irish America in the lead up to the rebellion, narrated by actor Liam Neeson. Documentary series looking at the lives of the men executed in Kilmainham jail in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising, continuing with Seán Heuston, who was educated at the Christian Brothers before finding work as a railway clerk in Limerick. He was active in setting up Na Fianna and quickly became an officer before moving to Dublin and joining the Irish Volunteers and the IRB. After the Rising he was held in Richmond Barracks until he was transferred to Kilmainham and executed.
