Monjirō parts ways with a lame girl who dreams of seeing the world beyond her village. Sensing danger, he rushes back to find the village ravaged. The perpetrator, a man exiled for killing a lover, has returned for revenge. Monjirō slays the assailant to protect the villagers and carries the girl to witness the world beyond the village, fulfilling her wish.
