There was no automatic generator transfer switch. The trained "operator" forgot to start the auxiliary diesel generator. Then the "operator" released the anti-rollback mechanism. How he released it under load of a full chairlift isn't clear. He hydraulically jacked off the service brakes; then hydraulically jacked off the bullwheel brake. Failed to notice that the cable was rolling back. Failed to re-engage either of the two brakes that would have stopped the lift. Hmmmm.
