Bluto faking serious injury—he sends Popeye a telegram claiming he’s dying from the last beating. Popeye, believing Bluto, throws away his spinach. Then Bluto's trickery escalates: he smashes Popeye’s bed, beats him, but ultimately Popeye’s spinach returns and he turns the tables on Bluto.
