Eduard bequeathed the company to Christel and his daughters. Due to the interim marriage of Margot and Böcker, the couple now basically own the majority of the United Metalworks. With a heavy heart, Ulla gives up her medical studies and decides to put her life in Altena in order first and finally to finish with Tommy, who has gone back to East Berlin. Ulla feels lost after her father's death; Jürgen's solid nature gives her stability. So she finally accepts his marriage proposal. Despite his marriage to Gundel, Benno lives in Düsseldorf during the week, while she stays in Altena to continue working in the company. In Düsseldorf, Benno gets closer to his colleague Regina. When Gundel overcomes her fear of the train one day and visits Benno, she catches him red-handed with Regina. Böcker has been elected as the new employer president.
