USA - South Dakota - Spearfish to Mount Rushmore (2x7)

: 19, 2011

This journey begins in the open grassland around Spearfish on the west side of the state before heading south into the Black Hills National Forest and the cowboy town of Deadwood with its surrounding goldmines. At Sturgis we look at the National Military Cemetery, as well as Fort Meade, which has a history stretching back to the early 19th century. To the south is Rapid City, the second largest conurbation in South Dakota, and a centre for tourism, because nearby is one of the most popular attractions in the whole of the United States, Mount Rushmore, with its four president's faces carved into the mountain top.
