Sally is upset as Kevin refuses to talk about the baby. Tricia makes a play for Curly. He panics when she comes on strong. He asks her out, expecting rejection but she jumps at the chance. He is amazed. Maureen is upset when Percy accuses her of abandoning Maud. Derek faces the Weatherfield Comprehensive governors. They have decided to reinstate him but he over-reacts when they are amused to receive a letter from Mavis explaining about him missing the coach. He is furious when they laugh at him; he resigns. Rita comforts Sally who feels that Kevin hates her and blames her for being pregnant. Kevin is moved when Martin tells him how fortunate they are compared to those in hospital. He apologises to Sally and tells her that he's glad she's pregnant. Denise is put out to find people are talking about Ken and her. She is upset as she knows they can't just be friends. Derek tells Mavis the worst thing he ever did was to marry her.
