The piece focuses on the story of Korean Yune Heue and Calgarian Ken Penny. Penny first saw Yune Heue in a catalogue entitled 'Lotus Blossoms,' one of many introduction magazines that matched Asian women with North American men. Heue travels to Calgary to meet her future husband. McKeown interviews proprietors of several introduction agencies to learn what motivates both potential brides and North American men to use mail order bride services.
