I'll show you how to sharpen most drills without any fancy jigs. When you need to sharpen a twist drill on a jobsite, sometimes you have to make due. We can't always be in a nice warm, well lighted shop, with a perfect grinding stone and a drill scale. A little practice and you'll be able to sharpen bits under nearly any conditions. Be forewarned! You'll hear newly minted-shop-machinists clucking and tsk-tsking in the comments. Never you mind, because they never stray that far from the coffee room. This'll help you get it done!
