This is Naked News, and I'm Shannon Blake. It's a week after Valentine's Day, but we're still finding things to love! And one thing "I" love are stories about corporations settling lawsuits, especially when those lawsuits are accusing them of pollution. Betsy's got one for me right now in the Naked Newsroom! Shannon, Minnesota's Attorney General filed a massive 5 BILLION dollar pollution lawsuit against 3M back in 2010, and it's finally paying off! The trial was supposed to begin on Tuesday but 3M just settled, agreeing to pay 850 MILLION dollars! The case revolved around 3M's use of PFCs, which were found in Scotchgard and other products and are believed to have polluted local waters and contributed to health problems. The money will reportedly be used to support water sustainability, so I guess today, the 3Ms stand for “Mmm, justice!”
