Audra's Eat, Roam, Relish: Sarawak, Malaysia

Audra Morrice delves into Sarawak's vibrant Indigenous heritage through its diverse cuisine, venturing across the Malaysian island state.

Embarking on a culinary expedition, Audra ventures 60km south of Kuching to the village of Kampong Sadir.

Audra teams up with local culinary expert Chef Alex Ting for an exploration of Sibu, a city predominantly inhabited by Chinese immigrants from Fuzhou.

Journeys to Mukah, a coastal fishing town about a two-hour drive from Sibu and well-known for seafood; Audra goes to a Tellian hamlet and fishes for big-headed prawns.

Audra harvests the prized gula apong in a Niah palm rainforest; travelling to Miri, she immerses herself in the city's Chinese, Malay, Iban and Orang Ulu influences; heading to Bario, Audra dances, forages, sows rice and cooks with the Kelabit women.

Audra concludes her highland adventure with visits to the coffee plantations of Long Banga and a spiritual journey up Prayer Mountain.
