In Essex, inspector Matt Gough receives a call about a little terrier called Edie who is trapped and terrified, so he calls in the fire brigade for some help. Duster the terrier is also rushed into hospital with a severely broken leg, and in East London, Inspector Clare Dew receives a report about a dog that has been abandoned in a locked, seemingly empty house.
