While hospitalized, Michiru learns that she has only a short time left to live and declares that she will marry the first man who enters her hospital room. Her father calls Michiru's childhood friend Kuma to explain the situation. Kuma agrees to marry Michiru and heads to the hospital. As Michiru is in a stable condition and waiting for a male visitor, she hears a knock on the door. It is not Kuma who enters her hospital room first, but Black Jack, who has been asked by the hospital to perform surgery.
