Shawn tries to impress Angela by going through basic training, but she is unmoved until Sgt. Moore reveals the reason for her pessimism: he was deserted by Angela's mother, and she fears she will do the same to Shawn. Meanwhile, Cory persists in getting Topanga to renew their engagement.
