When we say "Russian literary horror", we usually mean "Viy". However, this story goes far beyond "just horror", bacause Nikolai Gogol wrote and thought much wider. "Viy" was filmed several times. Something was eaten by time, something turned out to be nothing. In this review we will face only two adaptations - the best and the last. Has the latest version managed to at least try to reach the best, we'll find out right now...
