For three nights, Hitler set no limits to his demonstration of power. Foreign governments tried to understand what was happening in vain. Hitler started by ordering the execution of his dear friend, Ernst Röhm, and all of his troops. Then he named lists of alleged traitors to the nation, signing the death warrants of nearly 1,000 Germans. Following a chronological progression, hour by hour, this second episode reconstructs how those three murderous nights unfolded.
