A friendly postman (Astaire) tells the story of Kris Kringle (Rooney), an orphan taken in by a family of toymakers. Despite the grouchy protests of Burgermeister Meisterburger (Paul Frees) and the Winter Warlock (Keenan Wynn), Kringle decides to bring some yuletide joy to the children of Sombertown.
