Steve Backshall and his daring crew take a look at some of the most deadly forces of nature on our planet, when they explore the elemental furies of fire, ice, water and wind. Deep in the Australian outback, Steve ventures into the heart of a wildfire and then ups his fiery experience by getting roasted on the volcanic lava flows of Hawaii. In the freezing Alaskan ice world, Steve abseils into the heart of a glacier, experiencing an inhospitable world that pushes him to his limits in what turns out to be one of his toughest challenges yet. After looking at the deadly power of waves, Steve investigates the destructive force of tornados. To simulate their fierce winds of up to 200 miles per hour, the crew fire up the engines of a fighter jet. Standing in the jet flow, Steve shows how everyday objects can transform into deadly projectiles.
