Believing her son dead, Virginia Syckles shoots Ogden Karnes, the man she blames for her husband's death in a mine he owned. Her son, Jamie, is Karnes' sole heir and when the old man seems to be recovering from his wounds, decides to finish the job with the help of his gold-digging girlfriend.
