Holmes is called to conduct his keen investigations far from his loyal Baker Street. Lady Frances, an aristocratic English lady, disappears during a trip to the old continent; indeed, more than five weeks have passed without the woman having given any news about herself. Watson, sent back by Homes who, said to be held in London by major cases, begins to reconstruct the latest movements of Lady Frances and to get on his trail. The clues collected bring Watson to the French town of Montpellier, where he will collide in a violent fight with the main suspect and from which he will manage to escape unharmed only thanks to the providential help of his friend Sherlock Holmes, who unbeknownst to his colleague, he had followed everything at a distance, without being noticed.
