He relates the incident in a flash back to Kiran about how as an engineer officer he accompanied an infantory unit in a surprise raid on an enemy bridge where there was severe hand to hand fighting and where Harildar Kalyan Singh of the infantry unit sacrificed his life by saving Vikram. Vikram breaks down.
