Mary Bundle's Journey begins as an orphaned and desperate eight year old. Ten years later a beautiful spirited young woman Mary is sold into domestic servie and bound for St. John's Newfoundland. After a turbulent stint in rough and tumble St. John's Mary inadvertantly arrives in the insland fishing station of Cape Random. It is the beginning of a new chapter in her fight to survive/

As Mary struggles to get ahead she is never quit accepted by the other exiled settlers of the Cape: the andres family, the Vincents, and the overseer Thomas Hutchings. Entering into a questionable marrage with Ned Andrews, she further alienates herself. But when cholera strikes Mary works tirelessly nursing everone who surcmbs earning her place in Cape Random

Some years have passed and the Cape has grown into a fledgling community with the addition of a few new families, a schoolhouse, and a church. But the fragile stability is threatened, not by the harsh environment, but the human conflicts that rise to the surface. As Mary's past comes back to haunt her, the people of the Cape are torn apart by tragic events beyond their control.

Mary drives the people of Cape Random To stay together and work to make the place prosper. Against all odds she is determiend to secure her future and the future of all that have lived on Cape Random. Meeting every challege head on and turning setbacks in triumples she faces the ultimate thread to the Capes excistance.
