1623. The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Buckingham travel to Madrid to ask for the hand of the Infanta María Ana, sister of King Felipe IV. To avoid the marriage, Fray Emilio Bocanera, President of the Inquisition Tribunal, and Luis de Alquézar, Royal Secretary of the Austrias, commission Captain Alatriste and Gualterio Malatesta to intercept the arrival of the two Englishmen.
