Johanna Lambert (Harriet Herbig-Matten) wants to solve the mystery surrounding her father's death, but the corrupt police officer Theis (Stephan Kampwirth) is obstructing the investigation. Oil is gushing from the derricks of the Pape family's ill-gotten forest for the first time, attracting international attention. British oil trader Tyler Robertson (Marton Csokas) offers Wilhelm Pape (Tom Wlaschiha) a partnership, but Wilhelm refuses and appoints his son Richard Pape (Aaron Hilmer) as his manager. This is a devastating blow for Johanna, who was cheated out of the forest. Her doubts about Richard's loyalty grow.
