Kim suspects Shane is hiding an ISA case, but he's actually planning her surprise birthday party with Mike, Neil, and Roman. When Kim reveals she's booked a San Francisco trip for Friday the party date Shane fabricates a conflicting meeting. Neil advises Kim to trust Shane's judgment.
Jack angrily punches a reporter questioning him about Kayla and Steve Johnson's arrest. Melissa comforts him at her apartment, offering friendship as he processes his feelings.
Diana is accosted by Kai in the park. Roman arrests him and insists she stay home, but she refuses. A mysterious caller arranges for Diana to be driven to a mansion for a news assignment. Kai reports his mission failed to an unknown superior who vows to handle Diana himself.
At the mansion, Diana discovers it's a trap orchestrated by her father, Phillip Colville. He reveals he hired Kai to protect her and locks her inside, refusing to let her leave. Diana is horrified that her own father has kidnapped her.
