For a long time it was simple: if you ordered a beer, you got lager. Now the beer list is as long as the wine list. The corner of beer at the big grocer has been exchanged for an endless corridor of golden yellow rascals. And on all those flashy bottles and glitzy cans you always see three letters: IPA. Particularly bitter beers in a particularly wide variety. There is IPA and NEIPA, LIPA and Session IPA. Most of them are highly priced, some are dirt cheap. But what exactly is IPA? The Keuringsdienst hops from brewery to brewery in search of the essence of IPA.
